Manga Workshops with ILYA

Professional graphic novelist, comic and Manga-ka ILYA is coming back to Dorset libraries this summer.

Following two fully booked workshops in Weymouth Library last year as part of the MyVoice event, ILYA will be running free workshops for teenagers in Dorchester and Lyme Regis libraries in August.

His workshop in Dorchester library, which will take place from 11am – 1pm on Thursday 30 August, will focus on using Manga and Comic book techniques to create and reinvent characters.

Lyme Regis library will host a workshop about storytelling using Manga and Comic techniques from 3pm-5pm on Thursday 30 August.

Discover the Gutter Action Principle! Explore the mysteries of The Bleed! Learn exactly how comics and stories are made – and then craft your own!

Come along to these sessions for the chance to work closely with a professional graphic novelist and manga-ka, gain insight into these industries and get hints and tips from a pro.

Both workshops are free but places are limited. For more information or to book your place call Dorchester Library on 01305 224440 or Lyme Regis library on 01297443151 or email dorsetlibraries.readingandlearning@dorsetcc.gov.uk.
