‘Set in a Silver Sea’ exhibition at Weymouth Library

Visit this exciting free exhibition celebrating Weymouth and Portland’s association with the sea.

The ‘Set in a Silver Sea’ exhibition in Weymouth Library’s Mulberry Gallery celebrates Weymouth and Portland’s long association with the sea, appropriately in the year that Olympic and Paralympic sailing events are being held in local waters.

Photographs old and new, newscuttings and postcard displays illustrate the many facets of the sea in the borough’s history. Weymouth Harbour, Portland Breakwaters , the Town Bridge, royal visitors, smugglers, shipwrecks, lifeboats, paddle steamers and a host of other topics are on show.

Follow up a favourite topic in one of the many books about Dorset which are available for loan.

The exhibition available to view during library opening hours will run until September 6th.
